Dr. Wyndell Merritt, MD
Dr. Wyndell Merritt, Paladin’s Supervising Physician, is Board-Certified in both Plastic and Hand Surgery with over 40 years of experience. A graduate of Davidson College and the UNC School of Medicine, he is a lifelong Tarheel (GO HEELS!!!!).
Throughout his illustrious career, he has trained or taught at Emory University, the University of Arizona Medical Center, Stanford Medical School, the University of Florida Teaching Hospital, the Medical College of Virginia (VCU), Harvard University, the University of Virginia, and the Womack Army Hospital at Ft Bragg. As a Major in the US Army Medical Corps, he served at the 85th Evacuation Hospital in South Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for his work in reconstructive surgery on leprosy patients. He was also the winner of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons “Iron Surgeon” award multiple times. With close to 50 publications in a variety of respected medical journals, Paladin Dermatology is proud to have him on our staff.
Dr. Merritt believes that with compassion, empathy, and a willingness to listen to patients, doctors can truly build the trust needed with their patients to help them heal.
Dr. Merritt is the proud father of two grown children, and when he is not working, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and listening to bluegrass music.
